The Greeneville Astros have released their 2012 schedule. The slate features thirty-four home games at Pioneer Park in addition to thirty-four games on the road throughout the Appalachian League beginning in mid-June and continuing through the end of August.
The Houston Astros have announced that Omar Lopez will return for his second consecutive year managing the Greeneville Astros. Joining Lopez's staff will be Hector Mercado as pitching coach, Cesar Cedeno as hitting coach and Corey O'Brien as the athletic trainer.

MiLB.com is honoring the players who had the best seasons in their organization. A dozen-plus Houston Astros farmhands made their Major League debuts this year, a group that included Jose Altuve and J.D. Martinez. Four other former Greeneville Astros including Chris Wallace, Kody Hinze, Jonathan Meyer and Chase Davidson are also honored.
The Major League record for consecutive at-bats with a hit is 12, shared by Pinky Higgins (Red Sox, 1938) and Walt Dropo (Tigers, 1952). Though the Appalachian League is several rungs below the Majors, Greeneville second baseman Josh Magee joined some elite company with 12 consecutive hits of his own from Aug. 13-16.
The Houston Astros announced their 2011 Minor League Players of the Year, naming former Greeneville Astros' infielder Jose Altuve the Player of the Year and right-handed pitcher Jake Buchanan the Pitcher of the Year. Meanwhile, Charley Taylor was named Player Development Man of the Year and Luis Martinez the International Man of the Year.
